Casa Fiske

Pacific Palisades, CA

This 2,987-square-foot fire rebuild in Pacific Palisades draws on the inward warmth of traditional Spanish architecture. Woven throughout are the client's own personal touches, so the house feels like theirs from the first step inside. The open-air entry of the courtyard sets a calm and private tone before the front door ever opens. Inside, 4 bedrooms and 3 and a half bathrooms are organized around natural light. Windows and skylights are placed with intent, drawing daylight into the spaces the family uses most. Energy efficiency and environmental responsibility guided decisions across the entire design. Above the garage, a low roof deck reached from the second floor holds a garden and solar panels side by side. The family gets outdoor space of their own, and the roof also works to help power the home.
