Located on an upsloping lot in Baldwin Hills, California, this 2,258-square-foot contemporary residence is designed to engage the site’s dramatic topography while capturing sweeping views toward Downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. The architecture steps with the hillside, allowing each level to maximize natural light and panoramic vistas while maintaining a strong visual connection to the surrounding landscape.
The home includes three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, organized to create open, flowing living spaces that emphasize clarity, warmth, and simplicity. The exterior material palette combines vertical wood cladding, smooth stucco, cement fiber board panels, and expansive glazing, creating a balanced composition of natural warmth and durable contemporary materials. This restrained palette reinforces the home’s modern character while framing views of the city and hills beyond. Large sliding openings extend the primary living areas outward, supporting the indoor–outdoor lifestyle characteristic of Southern California living.
Inside, the material palette is intentionally warm and understated. Light oak millwork, natural wood flooring, and soft neutral plaster walls create a calm architectural backdrop, while stone surfaces and subtle brass fixtures introduce texture and refinement. Minimal detailing and integrated cabinetry maintain visual continuity throughout the home, allowing daylight, views, and natural materials to define the spatial experience.
The project is conceived using a prefabricated construction approach, utilizing modular components that streamline construction while maintaining architectural precision. Integrated within the design is a self-contained accessory dwelling unit (ADU) with a separate entrance, providing flexibility for rental income, guest accommodation, or multi-generational living. Together, the design explores how prefabricated systems can be thoughtfully adapted to complex hillside sites, creating a refined and efficient contemporary home within the Los Angeles landscape.
